Ecotourism in Bolivia

Being one of the least developed countries of South America, Bolivia offers the unique opportunity to participate in ecotourism and experience Mother Nature in her purest, unaltered form.

Flora and Fauna

The best places to view Bolivia’s flora and fauna are in the remote national parks where there is little or no human presence. Bolivia has over 1000 species of birds, as well as some spectacular species of bear, jaguar, capybaras and peccaries. Some of the more accessible parks can be reached with tour guides departing from Santa Cruz, Cochabamba and Trinidad.

Flora and Fauna of the Altiplano is much less diverse, primarily because not much can survive up there. However, the geographical wonders of the Altiplano (and other national parks) are definitely worth seeing. The best place start an ecotourism adventure of the Altiplano is from Uyuni or from San Pedro de Atacames in Chile.
